Trying to access a file on Google Drive or a dedicated web resource, but the error “You don’t have authorization to view this page” stops you from doing so. Well, it usually happens with Google Chrome and is called the HTTP error 403. A similar situation is also encountered when using other services like Netflix or any platform that requires authentication.
In this post, let us look at some of the causing factors behind the tool and some fixes that might help you overcome the no authorization HTTP error 403.
Shall we begin then?
The error indicates that the resource you are trying to access is not allowing it based on the credentials that you have used. However, that is not always the case that triggers the error. You may encounter the You Don’t Have Authorization to View this Page error in multiple situations. Some of these error-causing factors are given below –
Every user who has come across the HTTP error 403 on Chrome usually experiences it due to either of the issues mentioned above.
Fortunately, the problem can be resolved as the error has a few workarounds you can try. Check out the following section to learn more about the same!

While the majority of the error-causing factors appear to be based on authentication and permissions to access a file or a web resource, there are times that it is triggered unnecessarily. Here are a few ways you can work your way through the errors.
Note : Please note that most users have reported that the error appears only on Chrome. Hence all the fixes mentioned in the post are for the same.
If entering the credentials multiple times is not allowing you access, there are chances that they have been changed. You can reset the credentials if it has happened with Google Drive or any other service.
Simply enter your username and then use the Forgot Password link. This will take you to the reset page. It may take a few minutes and ask for other ways to verify your identity. Follow the steps in the process, and the access can be gained again.
When you are sure you are using the correct credentials to enter, but the web resource responds with the same, you do not have an authorization error; try Incognito mode.
This mode is designed to give a browsing experience completely disconnected from your browser’s regular configuration. Therefore, it makes a difference.
To open the incognito mode in Google Chrome, you may use the hotkey combination – Ctrl+Shift+N.

Sometimes, the HTTP 403 error appears as a one-time message due to genuine reasons and gets stuck in the cached memory of the browser. If you are familiar with the concept of cached memory or browser cache, you might know that it tries to load the last known address for a faster experience.
Hence, clearing the cookies and cache is the best way to eliminate the issue. There are two ways you can do so –
Method 1 – Use the Browser Settings (Traditional Way)
Step 1- Use the three-dot button from the top right corner to find your browser’s settings menu.
Step 2 – Open settings from the menu. In settings, find the Privacy and Security settings from the left pane.
Step 3 – You may find Clear Browsing Data in the opened options. Click on the same to find more options.
Step 4 – You may see a pop-up asking you about the data you want to clear. This includes your browsing history along with the cookies and cache.
Step 5 – It also depends on whether you want to remove the browsing history. If not, uncheck the option and click on Clear data.
Once you have done the same, simply restart the browser and try visiting the web resource showing that you don’t have authorization to view this page error.
Method 2 – Clear Cookies & Cache Using Advanced System Optimizer (Recommended)
The method mentioned above is the basic one you can use to eliminate the faulty cookies registered on your browser. However, it often comes across as ineffective as the file traces are still present in your system’s memory.
You can use the Advanced System Optimizer’s Privacy Protector Module to get rid of the cache and wipe it off. Here’s how it works –
Step 1 – Download and install the Advanced System Optimizer on the system.
Step 2 – Open the app and find Security & Privacy settings in the left pane.
Step 3 – In the opened options, you may find the Privacy Protector. Click on it to open the module.
Step 4 – You may find the start scan option after opening the module. Click on the same to initiate the process.
Step 5 – Once the scan is over, you may find all your browsers’ data. Click on Clean to finish the process.
This way, you can clean your browsing data completely and fix the HTTP error 403 – you do not have authorization to view this page.
If removing the browsing data did not clear the error, chances are that other browser components, such as the configuration, extensions, bookmarks, etc., are causing the problem. In such a situation, you can reset the browser to its factory settings instead of clearing all of them one by one.
Here’s how you do so –
Step 1 – Go to the settings of your browser. Use the three-dotted button in the top right corner of the browser window to find the settings option.
Step 2 – Click on Reset Settings available in the left pane.
Step 3 – Now, use the available option to reset the browser. Please read all the information in the pop-up before clicking on Reset settings.
These steps will reset the browser’s factory default, making it completely new. You will have to re-enter all the credentials, which means authentication will not be a problem again.
Besides these, you can always disconnect and reconnect your internet connection and switch browsers to see if the error persists. Hopefully, all these fixes will help you get rid of the authorization error. If you find yourself stuck at any step mentioned, please spill your queries in the comments section.
That’ll be all for this post! Thanks for reading. Good Luck.
