How To Fix This Item Isn’t Available In Your Country/Region

When trying to download an app from the Google Play Store, encountering an error message is never ideal. Unfortunately, you might encounter the frustrating “this item isn’t available in your country” message due to geo-restrictions. If you want to resolve this issue with the Play Store, continue reading for solutions.

What Causes the “This Item is Not Available in Your Country ” Error?

Here are some reasons why an app can be used in one region but not another.

1. Geo-Restrictions By Google Play Store

Geo-restrictions often cause the “This item is unavailable in your country” error. Developers, publishers, or service providers impose these limitations to control access to their apps/content based on region. Licensing agreements frequently require these restrictions, allowing content to be distributed only in certain countries or regions. For instance, an app might be accessible in India but unavailable in the United Kingdom due to licensing constraints.

2. Content Regulatory Laws and Censorship Of A Region

Regional censorship and content regulation laws are other major factors. Few countries implement strict regulations on the content accessible within their territories, including blocking some apps or websites that do not adhere to local laws. As a result, users in these regions may encounter the “This item is not available in your country” error when trying to access banned apps/ content.

3. Market Strategy Decisions Made By Developer

Developers might choose to release their apps in select countries initially or exclusively due to considerations like market potential, resource allocation, or strategic business goals. Furthermore, some developers may not have configured their apps for all regions, making them unavailable in certain areas.

4. Misconfigurations And Temporary Issues

At times, the error may arise from temporary issues or misconfigurations. For example, a developer might implement an update that temporarily limits access to the app in certain regions. Additionally, issues with the app store itself could trigger the error message.

Tech Fixes: This Item Isn’t Available In Your Country Play Store Error

Method 1: Change The Google Play Region On Your Device

The content you see in the store and within apps depends on your Google Play country or region. Different applications, games, and other content may not be available depending on where you are. Your Google Play nation or region can only be changed once a year. You must wait a year before adjusting your region or country again.

Note: To update your country or region, you must be physically in that location and have a payment method from the new country or region. Remember, if you are part of a Google Family group, you cannot change your Google Play country or region.

Step 1: On your Android device, open the Google Play Store app.
Step 2: Tap the profile icon at the top right corner.
Step 3: Go to Settings, then General, followed by Account and Device Preferences, and select Country and Profiles.

Step 4: Tap the country where you wish to add an account.
Step 5: Follow the on-screen instructions to add a payment method for that country.

Note: It may take up to 48 hours for your profile to update.

Method 2: Change Your Google Play Region Using Google Wallet

If you’re unable to change your Google Play country or can’t locate the option, try these steps:

Step 1. Sign in to Google Wallet.
Step 2. Click on your profile icon at the top right corner, then select Wallet Settings at the bottom.
Step 3. Under Payments profile, check the Country/Region section to see your current Google Play country. If incorrect, create a new profile for the desired country.

Method 3: Reset Google Play Store Data

If you continue to experience access issues after changing your country or creating a new payment profile, try resetting the Google Play Store services. Here’s how:

Step 1. Open the Settings app on your device and tap Apps & Notifications to see all your apps.
Step 2. Locate and select the Google Play Store app from the list.

Step 3. Tap on Storage, then choose Clear cache.
Step 4: Click on Clear Data and tap on OK.

Method 4: Download And Install Android Package Kit (APKs)

Another approach is to download Android apps directly using APK files. Many apps on the Play Store can also be found as APKs from other sources. While APK Mirror has been a popular option, other APK providers are also. For instance, F-Droid specializes in open-source applications. If you can’t find the app you need on APK Mirror, try searching for and downloading the APK from an alternative platform. Once downloaded, install the APK, and you’ll be all set.

APK Mirror
F- Droid
APKPure

Method 5: Use a VPN And Install it Using a PC

Did you know that you can install apps by opening the Google Play Store web version on any browser on your PC? Ensure you have signed in to the same Google account on your PC and Android device.

Step 1: Open the Google Play Store in your favorite browser.
Step 2: Type the app’s name in the search bar and open the relevant page of that app.
Step 3: Click on the Install button. You will then be asked to select the Android device with the same account login.
Step 4: Select the device and click on the Install button.
Step 5: Wait for some time, and the app will be installed on your device.

Note: If the app is unavailable for your region, you can use the Systweak VPN app on your PC and connect to the country’s server where the app is available.

Bonus Tip: Use Systweak VPN To Mask Your IP Address
