You can fix it by performing a System Restore. However, since it is caused by several factors, depending on the context, the resolution may vary. Here, we will explain the best ways to fix the error code.

  1. Reboot the PC.
  2. Update Windows.
  3. Run Windows built-in troubleshooter.
  4. Scan PC for infection.
  5. Check RAM, hard drive, and other hardware components for issues.
  6. Check Windows Logs via Events Viewer.
  7. Check for software interferences.
  8. Run System File Checker and DISM.
  9. Check the disk for errors.
  10. Update outdated and problematic device drivers.
  11. Perform System Restore
  12. Repair or reinstall Windows (last resort)

  • Incomplete software installation.
  • Issues with BIOS.
  • Misconfigured Windows settings.
  • Outdated system applications.

How To Fix 0x0 0x0 Error Code on Windows 11 and 10 PC

Method 1: Restart Your PC

Several processes and services run simultaneously in the background on a Windows PC. This sometimes interferes with the running of other services and software causing errors. A simple restart helps fix many such small temporary issues. If the error persists after the restart, then move to the next step.

Method 2: Update Windows

Microsoft provides regular OS updates to fix bugs and introduce new features. Here are the steps to update your PC.

Step 1: Press Win + I to open Windows Settings.
Step 2: Click on the Windows Update tab in the left panel.
Step 3: Next, click the “Check For Updates” button and wait for some time.

Step 4: If the Windows is outdated, click on the Download & Install button to update your PC.
Step 5: Click on Advanced Options > Optional Updates.

Step 6: Check for other updates, check the box next to the updates you wish to install, and click on the Download & Install button.

Step 7: After installing all the updates, reboot your PC.

Method 3: Activate Windows Troubleshooter

Windows OS has built-in troubleshooters to help users fix their minor issues independently. Here are the steps:

Step 1: Press Windows + I to open the Settings box.
Step 2: Click on the System tab on the left.
Step 3: Click on the Troubleshoot option on the right side.

Step 4: Next, click on the “Other Troubleshooters” option and choose the relevant troubleshooter depending on the action you take when you receive the error message.

Method 4: Scan For Malware

Most errors can arise due to the presence of malware on your PC. Here are the steps to run a malware scan on your PC.

Step 1: Press Win + S to open the Windows Search and type Windows Security.
Step 2: Click on the Windows Security under Best Match.
Step 3: Next, click on the Virus & Threat Protection box.

 

Step 4: In the next window, click the Scan Options link and choose Full Scan.
Step 5: Click on the Scan Now button.

Note : If you use a third-party antivirus, you can scan your PC for malware. Before using it, update it with the latest virus definitions. Windows Security gets updated when you update Windows.

Method 5: Check Event Viewer

To get more information about the error and fix it use Event Viewer. It provides detailed information on the action performed on both the operating system and applications running on the system. Here are the steps:

Step 1: Press Win + X > choose Event Viewer from the list.

Step 1: Press Windows + I to open Windows Settings.

Step 3: Double-click Update history > Uninstall updates.


Step 4: Select the recent update > click Uninstall.
Step 5: Restart PC to apply changes.

Method 7: Run System File Checker

If the error results from corrupt or missing system files, run the System File Checker tool. 

Step 1: Click on the Start menu.
Step 2: Type “cmd” into the search bar.
Step 3: Right-click “Command Prompt” and select “Run as administrator.”
Step 4: If User Account Control prompts, click “Yes” to grant administrative privileges.
Step 5: Type – sfc /scannow in the Command Prompt window > press Enter.Step 6: This process may take some time, so be patient and let it complete.
Step 7: After the SFC scan and any necessary repairs, restart your computer to apply changes.

Method 8: Run Deployment Image Servicing And Management

After running the SFC command run the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool to repair the Windows system image further.

Step 1: Click on the Start menu.
Step 2: Run the Command Prompt with administrator rights and type the following command:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Step 3: DISM will start repairing the Windows image. Depending on your system’s speed and the extent of the damage, this process may take some time.
Step 4: After DISM completes its operation, restart your computer to apply any repairs.

Method 9 – Check Disk for Errors

You can also face the 0x0 0x0 error when the disk has an error. To fix it, run the built-in CHKDSK utility. To do so, follow these steps. 

1. Run Command prompt with admin rights.
2. Type chkdsk /f /r.
3. Restart the PC to run the tool to scan and repair the hard disk.

Method 10: Update Drivers

All PC manufacturers have a dedicated official website where drivers can be updated. If you have device and OS details, visit the official website to download and install the drivers compatible with your hardware. However, if this sounds like too much work, you can use Device Manager.

Step 2: Locate the driver list with a yellow exclamation mark and right-click on them.
Step 3: Choose Update Driver from the context menu and follow the onscreen instructions to update drivers.

Step 3: Wait for some time, and a list of driver anomalies will appear on the screen.

Step 4: Locate the Graphic driver and click the Update button next to it.
Step 5: Once the driver updation process is complete, reboot your PC.

Method 11: Perform System Restore

Step 1: Press Windows + S > type Create a restore point > select the best result to open it.
Step 2: Click the System Protection tab  > System Restore.


No restore point is created if the System Restore button is greyed out. In such cases, you will have to repair or reset Windows.

Step 3: Click Next > Select restore point earlier than when you started facing the problem.


Step 4: Click Scan for the affected program to know which apps will be removed.
Step 5: Close the box > click Next to undo the changes and fix the problem.
Step 6: Click Finish and restart the PC.

Method 12 Reset Windows

If restoring the PC didn’t help reset Windows.  Here’s how you can reset Windows 11:

Step 1: Press Windows + I to open Settings.
Step 2: Click on the System tab in the left panel.
Step 3: Click on the Recovery option in the right section.

Step 4: Next, click on the Reset PC button.

Step 5: Choose Keep My Files option and follow the onscreen instructions to Reset Windows.
