1. Check your Device Installation Settings

To stop Windows from automatically downloading and re-downloading NVIDIA drivers, go to Device Installation and change the settings. Here’s how to do that:

  • Press Windows + R to open the Run window.

  • Type control > OK.

  • Go to System.

  • Click About from the left pane > Advanced System Settings.

  • Click the Hardware tab, then the Device Installation Settings button.

  • Select No (your device might not work as expected >Save changes > OK.

  • Now, download the latest Nvidia graphics card from the NVIDIA website.
  • Follow on-screen instructions to install the driver.
  • Restart to apply changes.

2. Uninstall Windows Update

During regular OS updates and upgrades, Windows automatically keeps downloading and installing drivers. This behavior causes problems with Nvidia drivers as they might upgrade or replace working drivers with incorrect ones. Before following the steps and making any changes to the registry, you should take a complete backup of the registry. For that, press Windows and R to get the Run box and type Regedit. Now in Registry Editor, go to File and click Export. Save the .reg file on your computer at the desired location. Once that is done, you can make changes to the registry by following the steps explained below:

  • Press Windows + R and open the Run window.
  • Type services.msc> OK.

  • Search for all Nvidia services. Select them and Stop all Nvidia services.
  • Next, open the Task Manager by pressing CTRL + Shift + Esc.
  • Look for Nvidia apps or process > end them all.
  • After this, you can remove the Nvidia logging file in the Windows Registry.
  • Press Windows + R to open the Run box again.
  • Type in Regedit>OK.
  • Navigate this path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Logging

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\NVIDIA Corporation\Logging

  • Now delete the logging file.

4. Update Your Nvidia Driver

When the Nvidia driver is missing or corrupted, you may face the Nvidia driver uninstalling itself whenever you reboot.
