How to Update USB-Serial Controller D Driver

To make the most out of USB connections, several users use the USB Serial Controller D. It is a more stable version of the serial USB controller, and it allows stabilizing the connection between a connected USB and your PC. Though it facilitates and optimizes the connections, it can often become a problem when the drivers are not up to the mark. Just like any other device used on a PC, the USB serial controller D also requires proper drivers to function.

In this post, let us look at ways you can try to update the USB-Serial Controller D drivers and why it is important.

Why Should You Keep the USB-Serial Controller D Driver Updated?

Keeping drivers updated on your PC benefits your PC’s performance. If we talk specifically about the USB controller D drivers, they are crucial to maintaining a fast and reliable connection between the PC and connected devices. The Controller D offers significantly better compatibility and resolves all the issues a traditional USB controller may face. Hence, it is crucial to keep these drivers updated.

Ways to Find the Best Updates for USB-Serial Controller D Drivers

Just like any other driver, you can get these drivers updated in three ways –

  1. Use the traditional method using the Device Manager
  2. Identify the Manufacturer and Download the Driver Manually
  3. Install the Advanced Driver Updater so No Driver Stays Outdated

Let us look at the detailed steps for all three methods so you can decide and choose the best one for your purpose.

Fix 1 – Use the Traditional Method Using the Device Manager

Using the Device Manager, you can get your hands on all the existing drivers on your PC. The USB controller D drivers will be here as well.

Step 1 – Press Win+X to bring up the quick access menu. From there, click on Device Manager to open it.

Step 2 – In the Device Manager, go to Other Devices. Double-click on it to expand it to find your USB-Serial Controller D Driver.

Step 3 – Right-click on the driver and click on Update Driver to start the process.
Step 4 – A Windows Driver Update Utility popup will open. Choose the Search automatically option from the pop and click Next to continue the process.

Step 5 – Let this process finish, and by the end of it, you will be able to update the driver.

Fix 2 – Identify the Manufacturer and Download the Driver Manually

For this approach, you must be familiar with the manufacturer of the USB-Serial Controller D that you use. For this, you can follow the given approach.

Step 1 – Return to the Device Manager and spot your USB Controller D Drivers.
Step 2- Right-click on the driver, and instead of using the Update Driver Option, click on Properties.

Step 3 – Identify driver information, the version, and the manufacturer from the properties.

Step 4 – Search on Google for the same manufacturer.
Step 5 – Check and compare the latest version of the driver on a website with the one you are using and see if an upgrade is available.
Step 6 – Download the installer from the website and save it on your computer.
Step 7 – Use the installer to finish updating the driver. Restart the PC after the installation.

Note : You may face issues if the serial port manufacturer or version information is missing or unknown. In that case, you will have to choose another method.

Fix 3 – Install the Advanced Driver Updater so No Driver Stays Outdated

In case it is too much of a task to finish, do not worry, as we have a shorter method too. You can use an automatic driver updater tool that not only updates the existing drivers but can also schedule a scan so that the drivers are always updated.

Advanced Driver Updater is your best bet when it comes to upgrading crucial drivers like the USB-Serial Controller D. All you have to do is –

Step 1 – Download the tool on your PC.

Step 2 – Use the Scan Now option to find out all the outdated drivers.

Step 3 – Click on Update All to initiate a batch process for your PC.

With the help of these 3 easy steps, you can not only update the USB controller drivers but also get rid of other driver-related issues.
