Fix 1 – Run Power Troubleshooter

Power Troubleshooter on Windows 10 can be found in the system settings. Here are the steps that you can follow to run it and resolve sleep issues with your PC.

Step 1—Go to System Settings on your PC. You may use the start menu to navigate or simply press Win+I to open it.
Step 2—In the menu that opens, navigate to Update & Security, and from the left pane, select Troubleshoot.

Step 3 – Click Add Additional Troubleshooters.

Step 4 – You may find multiple troubleshooters listed, Select the Power option and click on Run the troubleshooter button.

After launching the troubleshooter, follow the instructions on your screen. Once the process is complete, restart your computer to check if the PC is unable to sleep and whether the issue is resolved. 

Fix 2 – Change Advanced Power Settings

Power settings on your PC play a crucial role in the overall performance of the device. If these settings are not properly maintained, there is a chance that your device will face many issues, and the computer screen will not sleep at the top of that list. To fix the same, all you have to do is – 

Step 1 – Open System Settings and navigate to the System option.

Step 2 – In System, scroll down to find the Power & Sleep option from the left pane.
Step 3 – Click on the Additional power Settings button right below the Related Settings option in the available options.

Step 4 – Click on Change plan settings in the opened window.

Step 5—After opening the plan settings, you may see an option to Change advanced power settings; click on it.

Step 6 – In the settings pop-up that appears, you should instantly navigate to Multimedia Settings, expand it to find the When Sharing Media option, and select the Power setting to Allow the computer to sleep if it is set to Prevent idling to sleep.

Change these power settings and restart your PC. This will help your PC change its behavior regarding power supply management. If this does not fix the issue, do not worry—we do have other fixes to try! 

Fix 3 – Disable Hybrid Mode

Another setting that may help you is disabling the hybrid mode on it. The setting can be found in your PC’s power settings. Here are the steps that you need to follow – 

Step 1 – Open system settings and navigate to Power & Sleep options.
Step 2 – Open Additional Settings from the available options.
Step 3 – Navigate to your PC’s plan settings and click the Change Plan option.
Step 4 – Navigate to Change Advanced power settings after Change Plan settings.

Step 5 – In the opened pop-up menu, expand Sleep, and then expand Allow Hybrid Sleep and set it to OFF.

Using these steps, you can toggle off the hybrid sleep mode, leaving no other options for your PC than to sleep normally on not being active. While we are at it, you must ensure that sleep timings in the power options are set to a reasonable time.

Fix 4 – Disable Wake Timers

Another crucial setting that you can make in your Power Settings is to disable Wake Timers. Wake timers are programs that can wake up your PC every time it tries to go into sleep mode. They usually come in handy when you have an ongoing process that should not be interrupted due to sleep. 

To disable these wake timer – 

Step 1 – Navigate to the system settings and open the Power & Sleep options.
Step 2 – Open Additional Settings from the available options.
Step 3 – Navigate to the plan settings on your PC and click on the Change Plan option.

Step 5 – In the pop-up, find the Wake Timers option and change its status to disable.

Fix 5 – Manually Fix Bothering Processes

Once you have successfully disabled the wake timers, you can easily check if anything is bothering your PC’s sleep mode. To check the same, you can open a command prompt and use the command – 

powercfg /requests (leave a space after g)

If you find a process impacting your PC’s sleep mode, manually locate the application and disable it.
