How to Fix ‘Radeon Software and Driver Versions Do Not Match’ Error

If you use a Radeon GPU on your PC and come across the Radeon Software and driver versions that do not match errors, do not panic. It is an issue that appears due to a conflict of versions between your GPU drivers and the Radeon software in use. Like any other GPU client, the Radeon also offers a dedicated utility tool that can interact with the GPU configuration.

When you want to use the software, sometimes this error stops you from accessing the software. Why does it happen? More importantly, how can you get rid of this error? These are the issues that we are going to address in this post.

Keep reading; you will find all the answers and fixes related to the error. Let’s begin!

What Causes the Radeon Software and Driver Versions Do Not Match Error?

Now, there are times when your PC auto downloads the latest version of GPU drivers, thanks to additional driver updates. In such cases, the version of your Radeon client software remains outdated while the driver in use has been upgraded. Similarly, the case can be reversed where you manually update the Radeon software, but the drivers are outdated.

Not to mention, sometimes the issue also appears due to the lack of the Windows Driver Update Utility. You see, the database of a driver is updated regularly on the manufacturer’s website. However, the same doesn’t need to be synced with the Windows driver update database. There are times when the latest driver update is available, but when you install it, it does not match the current driver available on Windows, and hence the conflict appears.

This mismatch of the versions causes the error that Radeon software and driver versions do not match. The key is ensuring that your Radeon drivers and the software are updated parallelly. Otherwise, the error will keep returning and bothering you.
